For the month of July, I accomplished the following:
July consisted of creativity along with administration!
1) I chose to mainly work with Sibelius notation software, which is more robust. Noteflight will allow me to capture my thoughts quickly in the cloud, whereas Sibelius will allow me more options for communicating how I want my music played.
2) I rose, every morning (M-F) to write and think music for 2 hours before going to work, turning that into a habit (and learning that 5:45am is NOT that early). My notating went from 2 measures/day to 6 measures a day. I am now able to do 10 measures in about 15 minutes. Awesome.
3) I completed notating Ivan’s Rush Hour and am now working on slurs, dynamics and articulations. But the MUSIC that I had been committing to memory since 2000, is OUT OF MY HEAD and onto e-paper! Yay!
4) I grasped the concept of writing swing notation rhythms and will continue to work on Project 1 in August.
5) I set up an intentional calendar to help me stay in the moment but peek into the future to see what I would like to do next. I have short guitar and flute pieces that I would like to bring back into this notating experience, along with many others.
